Vincent Chignier (*1988)
Vincent Chignier (*1988) is a painter and illustrator from Clermont-Ferrand, France, currently living in Šternberk. He became interested in art during his teenage years when he discovered paintings on the walls of city buildings. However, the path to his own work was a bit more winding - it led through the study of carpentry. Despite his love of working with wood, he developed a desire to learn more about art and its various movements. He therefore chose to study at the School of Graphic Arts in Lyon, from where he went on to study mural painting in Clermont-Ferrand. After several years of gaining professional experience, Vincent felt the need to enrich himself intellectually. To his great joy, he was allowed to study fine arts at the Sorbonne in Paris. He successfully completed his studies in 2019 and has since devoted himself fully to his artistic endeavours.
His work is influenced by urban art and then by the artists LeCaravage, Hieronymus Bosch, Henri Matisse, Basquiat and others. With this mixture of inspiration, he experiments and creates - using various techniques - original works full of feeling and symbolism.
